Last Will of Martha McMillen

In the name of God, Amen---

I, Martha McMillen of the County of Lincoln and State of Tennessee, being weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be almighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form, following (that is to say) First I give and bequeath unto my son William McMillen one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto my son James McMillen one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto my son John McMillen one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto my son Joseph McMillen one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto my son Thomas McMillen one dollar. I also give and bequeath unto the heirs of my son Andrew McMillen one dollar. After the above named sums of money are paid out of my estate to my above named sons, I wish my track of land containing six acres lying and being in the county of Lincoln to be sold and the money arising from the sale thereof, totether with other monies, debts, dues or claims or property wholly whatsoever kindit may be afgter my decease to be equally divided between my five daughters (namely) Nancy Wright, Sarah Chitwood, June Gross, Martha Marshall and Polly Pinkston. I hereby appoint Jacob Wright Jr. my sole executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by me made in witness where of I here unto set my hand and seal the 27 day of February in the year of our lord 1826.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Martha McMillen to be her Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testatrix.

CODICIL TO THE ABOVE WILL

I, Martha McMillen do on the day that the within Will and Testament was made, make and publish this codicil to my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) whereas I will the balance of my property to my five daughters. I wish out of that property make an exception to the within Will and Testament of one woman's saddle and one pided heifer and do give and bequeath the said saddle and heifer to my granddaughter Martha Wright. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the 27th day of February in the year of our Lord 1826.
